Why Shock

Would it not be better to hold more BFCC events Rolling Eyes

Just setting up a club requires money (insurance 3rd party, land use, equipment etc) and lots of determination Sad

Perhaps if the BFCC had more events, say 1 every 6 wesk then it migth see an increase in numbers (JMHO) Cool

Dean,

Approach Mike Marshall (BFCC) and see if he's prepared to add a few more events - I'm pretty sure he would if more people would help and attend.

You've nothing to loose Cool

Hi Dean,

Is this just an informal get together or a proper casting club?. You may find the expence of setting up a proper casting club a bit severe. The BFCC have just reorgaised and it gave MM quite a bit of work. Have a word with MM and see if you can organise something under tthe BFCC umberella.

How long do you get to cast in a competition?. You can practice as long as you like but if you are competing it's those three minutes that count.

Why not add something Rolling Eyes

Get a few plant pot trays (splash pans) of various size, place at pre-determined distances (10m, 12m, 14m, 16m & 18m) and make 20 cast at them getting the fly substitue to land inside them.

Round 1 - 5 casts at each pan, no false casting in order of distance - closest first.
Round 2 - 5 casts at each pan , no false casting this time 3, 1, 5, 2 & 4
Round 3 - 5 casts at each pan, no false casting in order of distance - closest first.
Round 4 - 5 casts at each pan , no false casting this time 3, 1, 5, 2 & 4

5 points for each hit (max 100)

A bit like event 1 from the ICSF.

Sounds like a good idea having accuracy events and would help people who enjoyed concentrating on accuracy rather than purely distance. It's more likely to attract anglers who only fish rivers for example....

I think the idea of more events is a good one, but as with all of these things it is the few who put all the effort in. Mikes M and H and John do all the carting around and setting up at the events already, and asking more of them is perhaps unreasonable?

The likelihood of increased attendance overall is probably good, though the dilution factor might mean fewer people at each event?
The key events are pretty much carved in stone, and still quite poorly attended (including by myself last year).

I would like to see more events - maybe a couple of informal Brentwood (cricket club?) days where we can have a play around with accuracy and technique as well as distance.

Kev,

There isn't that much to do or to take and only 2 people needed - caster and marker

Simplified - 5 x splash pans (they fit inside each other for transport) 1 x 90cm hula hoop instead of the casting platform and a 20m tape

Set them up like this and that's it

With those who are standing around it could kill time.

I was told that the simplest ideas are usually the best.

Cool

There was a lot of talk of setting this up last year at the BFCC events, particularly after an accuracy stint at a 'loops shootout the October before.

I'm keen, and I even have an hula hoop! Laughing
