I'm going to have a bit of an ask around to see if there's anybody else not busy on the 5th who'd like a go. I suspect from some I've spoken to that there are a few comps on that day which may explain the low numbers currently booked on Battletrout. In case any of you haven't seen the updated table on the OP, I now have monies in from Loopy, Ecowarrior, Royvs and Montanajoe which I shall bank next week, so that just leaves Sunkistbob and G40Nutta to send in theirs. As for me, I already owe myself so much money another 30 odd quid won't matter.

So, here's the final table of entrants (assuming there are no last minute takers) so if anybody is reading this and fancies making the numbers even please post your entry below. Just waiting for payment from Jay so if you'd like to bring cash with you on the day that will do.
Paid | Name | No. Fish | Total Weight | yes | Montanajoe | - | - | yes | Royvs | - | - | x | G40nutta | - | - | yes | Loopy | - | - | yes | ecowarrior | - | - | yes | Whistlekiller | - | - | yes | sunkistbob | - | - | x | - | - | - |
If we can all meet up at the Lodge at Normanton for around 8am SATURDAY JUNE 5th we can have some breakfast and a chin-wag about stuff before we start, not to mention a brief look around the shop! Here's hoping it won't be an inferno like last year eh?

Sounds good
I have been invited out on the 6th at Rutland with a load of guys from FFF but I guess that is taking the piss with my family.
How goes it?
You seem to be holding up the forum single handed at the moment!
And
What has happened to your blog?
You are a one of the most entertaining guys on the forums and we have seen Jack!
Back to Rutland for a second pls.
I don't really want Eco or Sunkist on their own for the whole day so if it looks like it may I share a half day with each meeting up at a certain time.
Cheers

Shall I see if James Britten, Charlie Abrahams or The Pirate fancies a join up? I think they are all members on this forum?
Looking forward to my first day out on Rutland and thank you to Loopy for inviting me

I have been trying to get hold of Stewart for a while but can't seem to raise him on the phone. See what you can do Ben.

Oh Christ, I'd completely forgotten about that Chris! Been too busy tying flies for swaps probably! Apart from that I take the piss enough during work hours posting on here and weekends I try and go fishing. In the end, what I generally do is post what transpires in "Whistlekiller's Pint Of Lager" in the Fishing Diaries section.
Thank you for your kind words about my stuff on here. It's much appreciated.

I don't see any problem in a half time swap by Loopy. Very apt in World Cup month!

I've just had a PM saying he probably won't be able to make it due to work commitments. It's a shame as he's a real character! Nevertheless, we are now in a situation where we have even numbers so no need to swap boats half way through.

It's getting shorter and shorter.
The fishing is going to be brilliant I just know it. After the last two years when fish nave been hard to come by they are going to be leaping into the boat. I sense it!!
I've got my lad, Kieran, on designing some new flies for me. He designed one which he calls Captain Scarlet and worked amazing well on it's first outing. See my post of last night:
Ogston
Can't wait to try it on some of theses Rutland Trout.
Looking forward to another day out with the boys. It'll be a good day.

A forecast I've seen states 8mph North Easterly wind speed, 24 degrees maximum temperature and sunny with cloudy spells. Should be OK then!

Just a quick note to anybody who bothers to keep track of Battletrout cheques. Don't panic, I finally got around to banking them at lunchtime today using a rather interesting machine that allegedly speeds up the process. Having ingested each cheque in turn it proceeded to tell me (via the miracle of handwriting recognition software) the amount written on each individual offering. Everything was going swimmingly well until the final cheque (the one from Loopy) was inserted. The first conclusion that the machine arrived at was that Loopy was attempting to fish Rutland on Saturday for the grand total of 32 pence. A second and third attempt resulted in similar slurs on his character. The fourth go informed me that Loopy had probably taken out a mortgage in order to compete (£325,000) until a bout of swearing from me brought it to it's senses and order was restored with the correct figure.
Is it any wonder that people still keep cash under the bed?
See you on Saturday Gentlemen.

Saw the cheque post - never seen £325.00 let alone £325K!
Guys is it still worth going or should we look to postponing until the Autumn?
Could Ruland accomodate that?
Memories of last year loom large!

It is going to be bloody hot...25c.
A postonement might be sensible but I will go with the flow. Even Nigel couldn't catch last year. _________________ Roy |
