|

As Chris is away Im going to organize the Social at Thornton this year and I think its easier if I start a new thread. The dates Chris had pencilled in were:
September Friday 17th – Sunday 19th
Cost of the Fishing will be the same as 2008 & 2009:
Fishing Costs:
Fishing Cost 1 fish Kill + unlimited catch & release £11.00 pounds per day, OAP / disabled £9.50 per day
1/2 Boat for day £4.00 (bring your own electric motor we can charge your battery)
Those who want to arrive on the Thursday evening no problem.
As its a bit short notice Im not going to arrange food, I suggest you bring with you whatever you want to eat (or purchase it from the local shops) I can store it in a fridge or freezer. BBQ & coal for BBQ I will supply.
Can I start getting confirmed numbers please.
Any questions give me a call 01530 230807

The Dutch army is getting stronger,
this year I will bring my girlfriend named Ina.
So 2 personas, arriving on Thursday evening late, departing Sunday afternoon.
3 days boat, food on Fryday and Saturday.
If it's ok I will pay cash on Fryday...
Hope to see you there.

Ifor, can you add Kevin to the list. He'll only be arriving Saturday afternoon (maybe fishing, time depending) and fishing Sunday.
Cheers

Thanks for the reply so far.
Just to make it clear, this year you are going to provide your own food, I can find freezer / fridge space. There is a local co-op at Markfield 3 miles away.
We will provide the BBQ & coal for cooking on.

Ifor,
Well done for taking charge of this.
I'm going to try to make it but as always with work I won't know if I'm a definite until probably a week before.
I'm hoping to fish Fri,Sat and Sun. Hopefully I would have meet up with Chris by then and I will be the owner of my own float tube.
Cheers,

No more enthusiasm this year?
One could wonder if it's worth organising this if no more people will show up....
Just a thought...

Probably like the DAM Social, Hans. Slow to start but then it gets steam up. _________________ Roy |

It's a shame as this social used to be the highlight of my season. I remember not too long ago that there was talk about limiting the numbers but now it seems that we will be lucky to hit double figures. I have some great memories from this social but I feel with the lack of traffic on this forum
and the lack of the old regulars this social is on it's last legs.
I hope I'm wrong as I would love everyone to make the effort to meet up again even if for one last crazy weekend.
Cheers,
Mark |

I've only had the pleasure of one Thornton social and it was fantastic! Shame if it dies a death and becomes a thing of the past. I see that some of the regulars havn't added to the list yet?
Perhaps Chris or one of the mods could do a global email to render some more interest?
Having said that, it seems this whole forum is on a go-slow at the mo? Is that because a lot of the members are away on hols? _________________ https://www.facebook.com/groups/completefisher/ |

Unfortunately for my son and I, and those who liked the venison and square sausage , changing from the last weekend in Sept, a Scottish holiday weekend, has done for us this year.
Wee man is pissed off big time he won't be able to see one friend in particular.
Keep the spirit alive lads, we look forward to attending again
