Apparently they have been heading this way for a while and they think that they may have come in from the River Ouse. Bet your right about the anglers though, people still don't seem to disinfect their stuff properly.

Country File(BBC) did an article on it tonight.
Interestingly they live hand in hand with Zebra Mussels
