I'm a long time fan of writings that make you think. This text from Orwell's "1984" always makes me stop in my tracks and the hair stand up on the back of my neck. Hearing it whispered by the late Richard Burton as O'Brien, is even better:
"Tell me," Winston said, "how soon will they shoot me?"
"It might be a long time," said O'Brien. "You are a difficult case. But don't give up hope. Everyone is cured sooner or later. In the end we shall shoot you."

Our own Kenneth Branagh's portrayal of Reinhard Heydrich in the film Conspiracy always made me shiver. A fantastic piece of acting and a truly evil role. Visiting Auschwitz later made it even more horrific. Branagh was really able to bring the real threat and menace of this awful individual to the screen.

All is taken in good humor this side Fred ....i dont know what others do for laughs their side,or craic as we call it here.I was accused,along with me wife of being false of where we come from, on my last holiday by a local man,...meaning we was putting on a polite act in his view,....just relax and let it out he said,....once we did let it out,....he said thats more like it and what folks his end wanted to here.
It laid to a better atmosphere all round and a night we wont forget. ....you cant please all the people all the time,...so they say. _________________ If you cant take it,.....dont give it

Their 'Religion' may be 'OK,' honestly don't know. That said, I can't think of another that would propell someone to load a car full of TNT and drive it into a open market and blow shxt out of others. And do it over and over and over and over ......

Question not directed to you, but 'anybody.' In combat I've seen people do amazing things ... to protect their fellows. Drive in and blow the hell out of something for Religion Jollies? .. never.
Any have 'stories' that refute that?
I'll spare you mine. Had a Priest/Minister, not even my 'Religion' roll into our bomb hole (no, not a 'fox hole') and ask "You guys ok? How's it going?"
At the moment we were on the business end of a hell of a mortar barrage. My comment was "Father you are a realy dumb shet, get your head down, we have work to do here."
Guy got up, climed out, and walked to the next hole.
