From time to time, and rather unfairly I'd suggest, people have applied the epithet 'tackle tart' to me. Now, I will admit that over time I do seem to have collected rather a lot of tackle and yes some of it is rather 'exotic' but all purchased for purely practical reasons . . . honest.

However, Trout and Salmon has just dropped through the door and I've been perusing the seven pages of 'Tackle news and reviews', three pages of which are dedicated to the latest Hip Packs. Pride of place is allocated to the new Orvis offering. A nice little bag 12"L x 8.5"W x 5" deep and conveniently waterproof . . . £209 . . . yes. that'd be £209 . . . I kid you not £209 . . . not £20.90 . . . but £209!

It does make the Waitrose 'Bag for Life' (10p) seem remarkable value for money!

I saw that Hip Pack in this months T&S too and it just reinforced my old adage ..

1. Take any item - in this case a hip bag that might cost, say, £20 from Army surplus
2. Add a top of the range logo to it - in this case Orvis but it could be Simms, etc
3. Add another 0 to the price - in this example from £20 to £200

Works every time! Laughing

However there was one bargain that caught my eye - a rather lovely Hardy Ultralight MTX fly reel going for just £59.99. Shock

Trout and Salmon have since posted a correction on Facebook to say that was a printing error - the correct price is £379.99 Rolling Eyes
