I was in Hobby Craft tonight buying bits for lure making and came across this stuff.
You can see it will work on big flies, it has a centre cord and looks like it could be wound much like fritz or a hackle.
VERY CHEAP.

How strong is it , Peter? Some Christmas trimmings look the part, but the strands break very easily and are no match for a pike's teeth.

It seems tough enough, I did not buy any as I have enough stuff already.
No doubt I will take advantage at some point as it is to much of a bargain to miss.
I do not think that flies will last very long after a couple of chews from the pike what ever they are tied with.
Hobbycraft is a great place to get cheap odds and ends.

Apologies - I forgot to add a link to a similar discussion on here a few years ago. There is some good stuff out there ... if you can find it ... and Hobbycraft may well have it, but it pays to test the material before you buy. The good stuff will stretch and not break easily.

Never, ever sign up to their email service, as they spam you a LOT, no matter how many times you "unsubscribe" they'll only take notice if you get angry over the phone.

It seems that every time I buy something in a shop I am asked for my email so they can send me the receipt 
I tend to reply that the till receipt is fine.

Craft shops and the like ARE good places to source materials and at a smaller cost too as buying materials now is getting more and more costly.

Just seen this in my local John Lewis .
At £2.99 you get a lot of material, it looks like it would work on big lures/pike/bass flies, it seems to be a central cord with a sort of straggle come dubbed look.
What do you think?
