I was lucky enough to use one of the late Dave Wheeler's wonderful boat seats whilst at Chew earlier this year. What a revelation! Without doubt the most comfortable and stable boat seat I have ever used. I am aware that these are like hen's teeth these days but if anyone has one they would be prepared to part with I would be grateful if they would message me.

Alternatively does anyone know if anybody else is manufacturing anything similar? If not, and as I have time on my hands these days and decent workshop facilities, I might be tempted to try and knock something similar up for myself. I would be happy to make a few extra at the same time if anybody would be interested?

It wouldn't be to difficult to make up a similar seat & mounts, obviously denpending on the facilities you have. 1st thing to find is a seat - many dozens of them about, not only on ebay but there are many other sources. Then, get yourself a swivel base, if one is not already built onto your chosen folding seat. Then its just a matter of building the mounts, & see if you can make these fold as well, to save room in the car.

If I can't get one of Dave Wheeler's originals I'm definitely going to have a go at making something very like it. I've tried all the other seats but, in my opinion, none of the others come close in terms of stability and comfort. If I do get round to making one I'd be happy to make a few at he same time if anybody wanted one.

In the last 5 or more years, I've only seen one for sale & that was somewhere in Scotland. It was only advertised for a matter of about 3 days, so I think you'll be hyper lucky to find one.

I've had mine 10 years. It is still in near perfect condition and very comfy,

Sorry, not selling though Very Happy

While I remember - I was unloading my gear from the car a few years ago and chatting with the friendly gent next to me. I saw him eyeing my boat seat and I started saying how happy I was with it and what a good quality piece of kit it was. He replied "That is good to hear, seeing as I made it". Very Happy
