some tragic news one the Chew valley pike Facebook page talking about an elderly fly fisherman dissappearing under the water while wading today!!!!!!
Witnessed by some of the folk posting. What a shock for all and thoughts with the family and all involved.

Truly shocking - Cant find any further references to this tragedy on any of the media nor BW facebook page yet someone on Chew Valley Pike mentions an 80 year old. |

Same here _________________ Hi there, I have around 40 yrs exp. of tying flies, incl. some semi-pro work. I've taught at adult evening classes, written for and supplied photos for most U.K. fly magazines. Given talks/slide shows/lectures/demonstrations etc. Am founder and life pres. of local Fly Dressers Guild (27years), our members have won more prizes for tying than any other similar club, we've also won several national flyfishing comps. I look forward to both learning from and contributing to this highly respected forum. |

I've split these posts away from where they'd previously been put. Obviously, this is an ongoing situation and speculation is bound to be rife so please make sure any further posts reflect people's feelings at this time.

BWF have issues the following statement on their FB page ...
Bristol Water Fisheries
There has been an ongoing police operation at Chew Valley lake on Thursday 8th and Friday 9th November.
This operation has now finished. We have been assisting the police with their operation and investigation. We are not commenting as all statements must be managed by the police press team.
We politely request that customers refrain from commenting at the present time on this post. Fishing and other activities at Chew Valley Lake can resume this weekend.
All enquiries regarding the police operation to Avon and Somerset Police please.
Thank you for your understanding.
I'm sure things will become clear in due course.
