I totally agree with Barbus. So many different aspects to learn in this sport first. What's the point in having top class gear if you cant use it. Seen it far too often. |
I totally agree with you and Barbus. I couldnt believe it when he sais that 'seven fifty' was the price he was offered by the ghillie, i told him he could get a great outfit for £200 max!! Ive been fishing 30 years and while i have a loomis/sage i fish mostly with a GRXi. trouble is, it's not me that's buying the gear. Ive told him the facts, and what he can get for a lot less money, but at the end of the day if he wants to spend that sort of money, i can't stop him!! I'm hoping he'll see partial sense and scale down to the £300 mark...
I am very surprised (and saddened) though that a ghillie would offer him £750 worth of tackle as a complete novice |

Thanks for everyones input.
Sadly, i have to report that he bought the Ghillie's outfits because he felt that he ought to support the chap.
Personally id rather wrap a 7 iron round the Ghillie's head for suggesting such an outfit for a beginner, but hey ho, at least i tried.
