See, the numbers are creeping up.

Always happens, look at the DAM Social. Only about three for weeks and then we finish up with more than last year.

Thornton is not to be missed.

Here's a link to the Thornton website http://www.flyfishthornton.co.uk/index.html
It's about 10 mins drive from J22 on the M1. A fantastic fishery and a great social to come along too!

Oh, welcome to the forum!!

To be honest guys, i am in serious doubt;
The social will be in a bit more than 3 weeks now,
and so far only about 10 peeps are showing up.

Since the trip to get to Thornton will take me approx 10 hours (one way!)
and the Ferry to Harwich will cost me a bit over 300 Euros, plus 100 for the gas,
regretfully I must say I have not yet booked the boat and will not do this if no more people are showing up.

So if members are considering to go, make up your mind fast...

Hope you will understand this.
Cheers, Hans

It is a shame, Hans but things usually pick up. I know I've said it already but look at the DAM. Finished up with more than last year, I think.

I wonder if it's "No Food" that's the problem?

If so, you guys may care to know there is a Little Chef five minutes away that is a cut above the average and the Pub in the Village that does good evening meals.

Ifor always works his socks off for this event and it would be a shame to see it slip by the wayside. I won't say it's the best Social of the year because they are all different but it has never let us down yet for quality.

Some sod passed holiday for the guys that cover for me when I'm off... given that I pass the hols, it must've been the gaffer when I took a long weekend last weekend. Sad
So - given that I would inevitably be pissed at dawn, dusk and in between... and have to be at work in Kent at 0500 on the Saturday... I'm a negative Ghostrider.
Gutted.

Hi guys.

It seems that not only does the "Bring your own food" seem to be a bit of a downer but the date seems difficult for some.
This might be a suggestion too far but howabout we change the date to the following weekend? I see Hans hasn't booked his ferry yet and might be able to book for the following weekend? Andrew Moray and his son might be able to come along as well as the Scottish Bank holiday is that weekend? If is that the following weekend, could you make it then Chris?
Just a thought?
