Bristol Water are you reading this?
From all of the above the Tanks must now be one of the best stillwater brown trout venues in the country. Now that's something to boast about alongside the pike claims for Chew.
Let's hope they have some plans to ensure the survival of all this very valuable stock and that Tank 3 will return in all its glory in due course

If No.3 is to be drained completely I, for one, would volunteer to help transfer as many fish as possible to the other lakes. The fish that was following the one Joe caught was 20-30% bigger, maybe a double. It would be criminal to waste such a resource.

In the meantime, seasons greetings to all on here, and tight lines for next season. March 2nd is booked off work already.

Cheers

Mike

My sentiments exactly, CW Very Happy

For what it is worth, there has been a Bristol Water thread in various guises since the Forum began and so far this year the 'Bristol Water Reservoirs - 2011' thread has attracted 57,100 views (at the time of posting) which is the most ever. The previous best was 2008 which attracted 56,874 views although more people posted replies in 2008 (1,580 against 1,187 so far this year). Perhaps we can put that right next year! Laughing

Wishing everyone a fantastic Christmas and may all your fishy dreams come true in 2012

Alan Wink

I really hoped BW would inform us of the emptying and restocking plans for No3? Has any one had a look recently to see how much water remains? Sounds like Chew and Blagdon are filling up now
Its certainly been a learning season for me. Think I am getting to know the Barrows better now and really enjoy the value for money fishing it provides. I have and continue to meet friendly and helpful fisher folk some on the forum site and some not and this helps shatter the snobbery tag that fly fishing sometimes gets.
Thanks to all and see you all next season I hope.

ps still planning to visit Letchlade on Tues, Weds or Friday next week if any one wants to join me? (Alan pm me if your up for it)

A very Happy Xmas etc Wink

Ian,
from the BW web site.

'Barrow 3 will not be available for fishing for the whole of the 2012 season. However we will stock extra fish into 1 & 2 to compensate for the loss of the most popular lake.'

Not a lot more to be said. I know a number of folks are/will lobby Bob and Tony to look after the fish in three and ensure their welfare is top priority.

Cheers all,
Mark

Hi Mark, but do they transfer them from No3 to 1 and 2? Will they release details of what numbers, types of fish and sizes they remove from No3. These are the things that would be of interest to know/
Cheers
Ian

I see that Blagdon rainfall has hit 107mm for December - well above the average. Hopefully that will see the Mendip aquifers recharged nicely after a dry winter last year.

I know that strictly speaking this should be on a 2012 thread. But just a reminder to you all that the next BRFFA fly tying Monday will be on January 9th.

Usual venue and time - 7.30 at the Chew Stoke Inn.

Everyone and all abilities welcome. We have a group of beginners learning from scratch, as well as some more experienced guys, including members of this forum.

Hope to see you there for what is a very sociable evening.
