This is what the water level at Chew looked like when Dave (Bristol Flyer) took this pic at the end of November ...
... and this is what the water level looked like this afternoon in the same area ....
and at the Dam ...
Still some way to go, but it is good to see the lake filling up!

Great minds think alike Alan - I was dragged kicking and screaming to Cribbs this morning and as recompense went down to Chew for lunch at the lodge and hopefully buy some hooks etc. Lunch great, Cribbs awful and the shop was closed. Took some pictures almost identical to yours but obviously don't need to post them. Speaking to a twitcher at the causeway who said the lake has risen more than a couple of feet in just a few days. Must say it looked very murky.
Need some hard frosts to get the colour to drop out - where do they take the boats? Only 2 moored at the jetty and none on the slipway. |

Cribbs = my idea of hell!
Herons looking a lot more friendly! I wonder if we are due any proper cold weather? The fish in the stock ponds must be packing on the pounds in these mild temps |

Many thanks Alan. As my p.c. has a software glitch at the moment & I'm unable to p.m. here, could you please add www.bristolflydressers.co.uk to the list.
Thanks again & all the best for the new season everyone. _________________ Hi there, I have around 40 yrs exp. of tying flies, incl. some semi-pro work. Nice to see the lake is filling up. Plenty of time till March and if the mild damp weather continues it should work out well.
Cheers,

Done!
I dropped by the Lodge too Doug, in the hope of picking up some fly tying odds and ends but found the fishing section shut.
I wonder of they are missing a trick?

Alan. If you check out our forthcoming events, you'll see we are having an auction & bring 'n buy this weds. If you give me a call, I can give further details, my numbers on the link.
There's going to be LOTS of good quality stuff there, as a couple of local fishers have given up trout fishing & they've a warbrobe + full of top-line items to clear. _________________ Hi there, I have around 40 yrs exp. of tying flies, incl. some semi-pro work.
