Seriously suffering from cabin fever, thanks to the crap weather of the past couple of months, I've been playing at the vise again.

The pike sized version of my "witch" trout flys having proved succesful on certain occasions, I've produced a few variations on the theme, to play with when the weather improves.

Black, Perch and Flashtail Fry

All tied on Fulling Mill 3/0 hooks, which have been debarbed. The small red and black heads on some are painted lead dumbells - the larger heads are dolls eyes - superglued onto the hook first, then covered in UV resin, with a few turns of fine lead wire behind the head, under the 15mm fritz.
Both versions will give the front weighting, which produces the "sink and draw" motion of the original witch.

Marabou and Angel Hair form the tails - with UV flashabou undertailing on the white fry version.

Fished on a floater or at the most, a Di3 sinker, when the pike want smaller food items - they have worked well for me.

Enjoy ....... Tony

You should check some of the Saltwater "Schminnow" variants Tony - those tied with fritzy stuff are pretty much batting in the same ball park.
