A friwnd of mine, who sells "U.V.trsin" tried one & apart from taking considerably longer (very) to do the job, albeit on his resins (diamondhard range). It made no noticeable difference to the surface hardness, than his normal torch. I think he had a "single sided" version, that meant he had to turn the flies !/2 way through. _________________ Hi there, I have around 40 yrs exp. of tying flies, incl. some semi-pro work. Thanks Arkle, I am not sure it is worth messing around with.
As an experiment. Some buzzers I tied last night with UV resin were zapped with the laser pen and then this morning set out in the sun at 8am and then bought them in at around mid day.
The resin has now set to a non tacky finish
I have also come across advice that seems to suggest that UV resin does not work on Flexi Floss buzzers but it seems to be fine on the ones I have tied and used.

I have also found that any tacky finishes can be cured by leaving your flies in direct sunlight for an hour or so. Works every time for me.

The number of times I've seen, "coat them with S/H or similar" & "Leave them on the ...." really defeats the purpose of using resin.
As they, were designed specifically for fly tying, as diamondhard is & is the ONLY one thats formuated so, needs none of these methods & dries completly within a very few seconds when used with the correct light source pen.
I've seen a thread, on an American sea fishing site (can't find it a.t.m.) how a guy, used a "market leading" (named) U.K. product, on all of his flies & failed to catch. He was aware of an "odour" coming from the flies, so replaced his patterns, with ones that he retied with diamondhard. Within the first few casts, he was taking more fish than everyone else on the boat put together. There was no "odour" coming from the newly treated ones. _________________ Hi there, I have around 40 yrs exp. of tying flies, incl. some semi-pro work. Glad to see that FF&FT have just confirmed that Deer Creek is top in their survey for the November issue
Dries tack free unlike most of the others on the market.
