Quite a lot of what I'm tying at present are best described as 'method' flies, they do catch themselves but their main purpose is to place other flies accurately in the water column. Here's one, a Jig Olive . . .

Hook: Hanak H450BL Jig Superb, Size 12
Bead: 3.8mm Gold Tungsten
Thread: UTC Ultra 70D - Yellow Olive
Tail: Olive dyed grizzle hen
Body: Golden Olive Stripped Quill
Rib: UTC Ultra wire, Fl Yellow - covered Bug Bond lite
Thorax: Ice Dub, Olive
