Fly line backing works well or any heavy braided line. _________________ I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.

Google how to tie a snake fly - most use hollow braid. Don't seem to be able to paste a link from you tube but Davie Mcphail, Andy Pandy together with Filling Mill have some good videos.

I'm embarrassed to admit that one of my best flies on Farmoor is a 'Boobymungus' which as you might guess is simply a Humungus in its various guises with booby eyes instead of chain bead eyes.
I'm not embarrassed really.

They are just flies. They are effective on some days under some circumstances. Other days the are not. _________________ I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.

I just use regular braided line....20lb tied to the eye of the trailing hook with a uni knot, might even be a grinner?! then whipped onto the front hook. Dead easy and not had one come undone!

I tied up a few snakes on the weekend. Really fun to tie once I worked out the right order to tie the various bits.
They really are big though! I had to remind myself of the time I watched the Pink Panther bag upon Chew in about half an hour fishing one of his huge pink lures that the stockies had no problem engulfing!
They look nice Dave, it will be interesting to see if your pike hook up rate increases.
I think it’s too much of a step for me right now, might have to tie some zonkers first!
