The first ever 'socially distanced' CFF social at Ladybower Fisheries and we'd like to thank all the lads in the tubes for behaving responsibly and abiding by the government guidelines. 👍 Despite the portents of doom from a few inaccurate weather forecasters the promised winds failed to materialise for Saturday with a great performance from 12 anglers catching 79 fish between them on a variety of techniques, the majority being slow and fast sinking lines with cats whiskers, black blobs, damsels and 'Iain's Old Traditional' booby doing the damage. 😉 The full results are as follows with every participent on the scoreboard:

1. John Oakes (14)
2. Steven Frakes (13)
3. Ric Dunnett, montanajoe (11)
5. Officer Clipboard (Cool
6. Zimfisherboy (7)
7. Richard Dayne Cartwright (5)
8. Woody tim (4)
9. Grenadier, Dan Pendergest, TheCowboy, drsixty7 (2)

So, a massive well done to John Oakes (a tally including two double hook-ups) who avoids winning 'The Hand Of Satan' this year, and also Zimfisherboy for a chunky 6lb 7oz rainbow caught just off the boat jetty. A few meals out of that one Kev! 😀
Regarding 'The Hand Of Satan'...… it's been a difficult few months so hardly surprising that our mascot's become rather grumpy and because of this, extremely unreasonable. For this reason, I'm sorry to say, a float tuber forgetting his waders is a massive problem and then borrowing a pair of mine that had a hole in the right leg an even bigger mistake (what was he thinking of....) plus a pair of socks from Zimfisherboy, so step forward Woody tim for your inaugural win! 😘😘😘😘😘

The Hand Of Satan, September 2020, getting on for its first decade of darkness.

.....this from Zimfisherboy, trumping Officer Clipboard with a 6lb 5oz cracker fishing off the road bank today!

Woody tim..... CFF 'The Hand Of Satan' winner September 2020! Congratulations!

Sounds like a fantastic event! I think float tubing is ideally suited to social distancing and an average of nearly 7 fish each shows how effective it can be. Smile

Did anyone catch on a 'Sweet Susan' fly? Laughing

This social was on and off more times than a newlywed brides nightie but despite the ever changing situation and thanks to the faultless compliance of the few that attended I for one had a great time and it was just the tonic needed. Thank to Richard and all of the staff at Ladybower for making it possible and providing a first class venue.

The weather was a challenge with some mighty gusts making float tubing difficult but thankfully the rain mainly fell elsewhere. The majority struggled for any fish on the first two days until the fish finally started taking on saturday, for some at least😬

Roll on the 2021 social season and hopefully we’ll all be free to move and mingle without the spectre of a pandemic making life difficult
