Thanks Chris, that was quick work!.

Can you add a link to www.thebfcc.co.uk please and I will arrange for a link from the website to here.

To all members and potential members of the BFCC,

This forum has kindly allowed the BFCC to have its own dedicated and pinned section in the casting section. If any of you have any comments, questions or suggestions, or would like to leave feedback regarding any of our events then this is the place to do it.

One of the aims is to provide somewhere for dialogue between members and club officials on BFCC issues and events.

Many Thanks,

Mike

You got to be taking the p*ss, Josh. Paul is fully clothed albeit on fire and standing in that 'balletic' way that only 'certain' men can do. Josh, if you want to view the site from school just tell me what bit is pornographic and I will shift it to the adult's section of the website Smile Here is the offending pic for all to see. He looks more like 'blue man' than 'blue movie' to me.
Cheers,
Sam

Welcome aboard all, look forward to hearing more from you down the line.

Strange - I've been kind of flirting with the idea of the BFFC for a year or so, and Charon has been really helpful in letting me know when the brentwood days are... but sadly on the past three occasions after I'd already commited to other things. Good to know you're around... I'll doubtless have some queries and ideas once the field dries enough to get out on without sinking...

Cheers,
Kev

Thanks for the welcome Kev, you can stop flirting now and get serious.

Ok, I guess it's time to use this space for what is meant to do.

Trout Fisherman is supporting the BFCC in an event near Brentwood on April 15th. There is a form on page 79 of the March issue, spaces are limited to 30 so if you are interested please get in early. Russell Hill from TF will attend and casting instruction will be lead by Mike Marshall and assisted by BFCC members.

Other events are at Huntington on the 6th May, Huntington on the 5th August, both of these events will be cast in the same area as the UKSF are holding their events so that some of them can come over and try real casting. The last event of the year is at Brentwood and features a three man 7 weight contest for all comers, bring your own gear and have a go, plus the normal BFCC events which you are welcome to have a go at as well.

The normal bfcc events schedule is on the website.

See some of you there.

Mike

Hi Guys,

The new season is here at last and I guess some of you have already had your first fish or two.

Did any of you do some casting practice before your first trip?

For those that didn't (shame on you) I would be interested to hear what casting problems you encountered after a longish layoff, what part of your casting was 'off' or perhaps you may be one of the lucky ones and a rest has actually improved your casting (it happens).

How many of you think they would benifit from casting lessons but are pretty sure they will never get round to having one?

Mike

First day tomorrow - Hanningfield. I was fully intending to get some practice in... and have failed dismally.

In fact I'll be using a new rod, new line and new reel, none of which have been tried together (by me) before now - so it should make for interesting casting!

I did a day on the river in January for grayling with a #3 rod - does that count as practice? Laughing

Seriously though - I can't overemphasise to anyone toying with the idea as to how much difference casting lessons will make. *EVERYONE* can benefit from lessons no matter how good (or hopeless) they (think) they are.

I do think a rest might improve my casting. I tend to play at it and warm up a bit by fishing the near water first. Work line out gradually and try to keep my loops as I want them to be.

But hey - if it's a bit messy to start with... what the heck - I'll be fishing again!!! Smile

I start getting serious about my distance casting once I get on the case at Bewl on the bank, and far more so when SWFF starts up in earnest in the early summer. In between it'll be short lil' roll casts and overheads on the river Smile Delicate and accuraste casting is my main objective then.

Well, the opening day at Hanningfield was windy as all get out. Fishing into the teeth of it from the bank had me concentrating pretty hard on loop shape and speed to punch the flies out. Ended up reverse casting to avoid wearing booby earrings. It went fairly well. Caught some fish, and seemed to be punching out a reasonable line.

Still need more practice though. Have been out on the field a bit trying to speed up and slow down my loops, widen and narrow them and so on. The line feels as if it needs retreating though.

What's the favoured line slick du jour then?

Cheers,
Kev

You must have been barking mad to wet a line . It was freezing yesterday and we had a lot of snow.
Anyway, at the risk of being asked to leave this forum, slick du jour is being discussed over on the tackle section of sexyloops at the moment.
