Well we knew things were bad, but didn't realise it was that bad, at that rate (631 fish in 6 weeks or 105 fish a week on average) it will take 4.89 years to reach last years total catch (26,746)
Things better improove soon

Surely these are not the totals for the entire season so far
If they are then they're complete nonsense.
I met an old Barrow regular last week who had already had 100 fish from the Tanks so far and he has plenty of Mateswho have had similar catches.
Even I've had nearly twenty fish form there in the last couple of weeks.
I can only assume that these figures are weekly or fortnightly totals

It was a Struggle to add one tothe total.
As always a day out with Robin Haywood was a gas ,great company ,good gossip .
Massive hatches of buzzer ,red, olive , bright green, small blacks ,and probably others .early part of the day was near flat calm .In this flat calm and huge nimber of trapped food items I would have expected there to be a large number of rising fish in the overcast light ,the rises were very limmited almost as if the lake was very understocked
My only fish a 3.1 lber came to a shipmans cast to him after he had shown several times in an area of near flat calm towards the dam ,good fish went well but on spooning a few shucks and one small blck buzzer .
there was a welsh Eliminator match on and they seemed to be struggling as well ,doubt there was a limit bag from the lake all day ! _________________ For winter grayling fishing near to hungerford ask me !

Yep exact same story for my trip there yesterday , managed one on a Diawl Bach and my boat partner had one on a booby, was loads of blanks and one VERY doubtful 4 from a chopsy git . I'm sure the place must be packed with fish by now, there were plenty of fish rising in the flat calm early on but wouldn't look at anything I tried . Not sure what that Welsh elimintor was though unless it was a club comp of some sort?

Paul.
I haven't got a clue what's going on at Chew at the moment
As you say the place must be packed with fish still.
Just as to why the fishing has been so poor is a mystery

Perhaps it's "A big Water thing" Andy
The rod averages from Blagdon last week were 1.2 and that included the boat returns
Where's my pole and seat box

STOP PRESS.
"BLAGDON: Although slightly sheltered from the strong south and west winds, Blagdon has been affected as Chew Valley and many fishermen have found the fish hard to come by. Fishing close up to the Dam and in Butcombe Bay has been the main area stay for most anglers though there have been fish taken from Green Lawn and Wood Bay area. Bank anglers have also had success fishing these banks. Best fish of the week was a brown of 5.05 taken from a boat by J. DOYLE _________________ " Have a nice day" |
