Fri 9th March
Pat was out today with Mike Wilder and friends on "Broadbill" and managed to pick up 2 sailfish and lose a striped marlin that seemed to be on nicely only to come off. They had a few other sailies rise to the lures only to slink back in to the depths. "White Otter" also had 2 sailfish and missed a stripey that they saw tailing and came in just to knock an outrigger down. "Shuwari" saw a few sails and at least 1 marlin but only managed some dorado and a wahoo. Mike and co got about 6 dorados and their seem to be a lot of them about.
For once the forecast was correct and the wind has seemingly swung in to the south, actually coming from the SW, which normally is a disaster for fishing in the Pemba Channel. The sea was flat calm as is rather common at this time of the year. _________________ Sea Adventures Ltd, Shimoni, Kenya offers fishing charters on either the 46-ft "Broadbill" skippered by the old man of the sea, Pat or on the 42-ft "Kamara II skippered by myself in to the Pemba Channel or live aboard fishing safaris. In my reports I will try to give an honest appraisal of the fishing out of Shimoni, whether on our boats or others. |
