Riverge Grand Max Flourocarbon
By Peter Sachs.
A t £18.99 for 100 yards, the Orvis Grand Max Riverge is certainly not the cheapest flurocarbon on the market but there are situations when it will significantly increase your chances of catching fish. In gin clear water during the summer months, leader choice can be almost as important as fly choice. The right fly on leader that is too thick will not catch as many fish as a different fly on much thinner leader. The Riverge allows you to use a low diameter leader without sacrificing the breaking strain. For fishing nymphs and buzzers this can be crucial and can be the difference between blanking and catching.
The table below illustrates the strength the Riverge has compared to the diameter.

If you are looking for a leader which you can fish with confidence that won't suffer from smash takes then you should try the Orvis Grand Max Riverge. I often fish small buzzers with the 9.5lb line and take plenty fish on the method. The ability to use small flies with strong leader adds another dimension to your fishing arsenal and it will put more fish on the bank for you.
